FlexiSphere Policy Fabric™
The FlexiSphere Policy Fabric™ is a single, unified policy layer that is expressed in business terms. It cuts across all aspects of the data center environment: configuration, operational management, security, network communications. It comprises both static and dynamic elements. The automation of these activities reduces human error, accelerates change deployment and ensures both forward and backward chaining. The Policy Fabric provides a strong foundation for compliance, auditing and reporting activities across the enterprise.
The policies that make up the Policy Fabric are stated (to the extent possible) in business, rather than in technical terms. In their expression, they are abstracted from the details of the underlying software and hardware, but they drive the specific configurations necessary to implement them. Policies are explicit: everything must be expressly stated.
The goal of the Policy Fabric is to make the policies that control the configuration of the environment completely visible (and therefore subject to audit and validation), and humanly understandable.
The automated, FlexiSphere Policy Fabric™ in our private cloud provides a higher level of physical security than a major Investment Bank’s own in house datacenter:
- Business Policy, rules based, security is far superior to a sys admin written line of computer code. Command line security code is two dimensional while a business operation and process is not only three dimensional but also can exist across multiple ecosystems.
- Business rules that control the flows of data – who can and cannot see, read, write or copy the data - are seldom resident in a single site or device within a network but are often spread across the computing enterprise. Therefore they must be wrapped in a Policy Fabric that ensures their consistent application of and compliance with the business rules.
- The Policy Fabric ensures the behavior of interconnected systems throughout the compute ecosystem.
- Dramatically reduced physical connections in a secure, policy rules based private cloud means greatly reduced potential intrusion points.
- Automation of the security process removes people from the process. History has repeatedly proven that people are the weakest link in any firms security model:
► They make mistakes.
► They are expensive.
► They are not universally trustworthy.
The automated FlexiSphere Policy Fabric increases security and control while it simplifies configuration, deployment, operation, interconnectivity, monitoring, capacity management, business continuity and compliance. It also greatly reduces operational and future risk costs and literally pays for itself.
Faster, Cheaper, Safer.
